How to Make Money With Swagbucks

You are probably wondering why I have a picture of bread and butter. This post is going to go into my new category Bread N’ Butter. With every business you have your products that make you a big chunk of money, but they tend to take longer to obtain. You also have your products that don’t make much per sale, or in the case of affiliate marketing per sign up. However, they are what keep you a float and get cash flow while waiting on the bigger and brighter things. In sales, we used to call that Bread and Butter money. So, today I am going to talk about Swagbucks and how it was my bread and butter money for a while.

I have a feeling many of you probably have already heard about Swagbucks, but if you haven’t then this post is for you. I’ve been a member of Swagbucks for years, but only the last year did I get serious about working it. Why? Well, I needed extra money for food and stuff during a tight money period. So, I did what I knew I could do to make extra cash or in my case Visa Reward Cards, Walmart Cards, and Omaha Steaks gift cards.

I had time, but I didn’t have much money, so personally, I went the way of the free stuff to do most of the time, or things that I would ordinarily do anyway, that I could get paid to do through Swagbucks

How To Make Money With Swagbucks?

You can really pick your forte on Swagbucks and decide which ways work best for you. There’s really unlimited ways to earn and you can sit there and make money all day.

First thing you need to know is 100 Swagbucks = $1.00. You can see in my picture above. I have made over 100,000 Swagbucks in my lifetime with the majority of it being made since June 2018. In real money amounts that is $1,000.00 of extra money I made to purchase food and necessities.

I would imagine if I was already a member of Wealthy Affiliate back then, I would have made way more than that though. Not only from only making an income on Wealthy Affiliate but also by referring members to Swagbucks using Wealthy Affiliate. You can earn a reoccurring 10% Swagbucks on whatever your sign up (referral) makes with only a few exceptions.

Here’s a list of a few of the ways you can make some extra cash with Swagbucks.

    1. Invite Your Friends – 300 SB Plus 10% Lifetime Earnings. Earn 300 SB when your referral signs up and earns 300 SB in their first month. Plus, you will also earn 10% of their SB earnings for the life of their account. (See their FAQ for details)
    2. Earn 100 SB’s when you refer someone to install the Swagbuck toolbar extension for Chrome.
    3. Shopping – by using the Swagbucks extension or clicking on an ad on their website in the Shop category, you can receive cash back from places you already shop at like Walmart.com.
    4. Printing Coupons
    5. Watching Videos – both on the website and using apps
    6. Doing Surveys – There are usually tons of surveys available.
    7. Signing up for offers- Through Swagbucks or through other companies on the Swagbucks site in the category called Discover. You can even get Swagbucks for trying out games on your Android or IPhone

There are even Daily Bonuses, Streak Bonuses, and occasionally games like Swago and Team Challenges like the one going on right now

Of course, there are many more ways to earn Swagbucks so I encourage you to go the site, sign up for a free account and check it out for yourself.

Is Swagbucks Legitimate?

I have heard people calling Swagbucks a scam. If it was a scam, I wouldn’t tell you to sign up for it, and I wouldn’t have made over a $1,000 dollars with Swagbucks. The reason people call it a scam, is they are usually not reading the disclaimers on an offer or they abuse the system, and they get removed.

There have been times I did not get credited for certain offers. If that happens to you just make sure you have screenshots, and the offer information, and send in a help ticket to them. I have never been refused my credits if I did the program right (which I always have, so I have never been refused). Of course, I can’t guarantee something goofy in the universe won’t happen to you. There’s never a guarantee for that. I can only tell you my personal experience with Swagbucks has always been a pleasant one.

Some offers take 30 days or longer to receive your Swagbucks, so just make sure you read every offer.

How Does Swagbucks Pay You?

Swagbucks pays you in gift cards to many stores or retailers. They also pay you in Visa Rewards Cards that you can use as a credit card with online shopping, you can also request getting it mailed to you to be used in a physical store. They also will pay you through PayPal. The choice is yours on how you would like to receive your rewards.

How to Earn Swagbucks Fast?

I would like to tell you a fast way to earn, but I can’t. It sometimes can take a while to get enough to cash out for. Though one of the fastest ways if you like to go to restaurants or shop is to purchase Gift Certificates off of their website. I really earned a lot of Swagbucks that way and they were instant as soon as the card went through. I used my rewards to purchase the Visa Rewards card to turn around to purchase more Gift Cards. That was my system, and it got me the food I needed.

When you earn a gift certificate through Swagbucks though, they tell you it can take up to 10 business days to receive it in your email. I have never had it take long for me it was more like 3-5 days and I usually ordered the Visa Rewards and the Walmart Cards.

Conclusion

If you need some extra cash to makes ends meet while you are building your business or just stretched with every day living. Swagbucks is an excellent place to make some bread and butter. You won’t get rich. You won’t make enough to quit your job, but it does help stretch the budget and make some extra dough.

  1. Hi Sara,
Thanks for this post. I have heard of Swagbucks but it just seems so complicated, your explanation of how it works is really good. It is also great that they have so many different ways to pay out. I personally am not interested, however, I will definitely bookmark your post and pass it on to people I meet who may see this as a viable way to earn some money. Is Swagbucks available worldwide?

  2. I love Swagbucks! I use them from time to time for extra cash. You won’t make a lot of money with them, but it sure doesn’t hurt to make a little. Sometimes a few extra bucks can make all the difference when it comes to helping you pay a loan back sooner or buy something you’ve had your eye on for some time, but been unable to squeeze into the budget. Besides, if you’re going to spend time watching videos and shopping, you might as well get paid to do it. Thanks for sharing!

    • Yeah, Swagbucks kept my stomach fed when I was primarily doing that. They are starting to have a Roku channel to get paid to watch too. I’m not sure if I’m one of the first to get that email or if it went out to everyone. I have a Roku I should give it a shot, because i’m not a TV watcher during the day the TV isn’t used anyway. May as well put it to work.

Getting cash back from Walmart is great. I’m not one that likes to go in the stores fight the crowds or anything else that involves shopping. Not to mention I live in a rural area and having everything delivered to the door that I can is very helpful for not wasting time and gas getting there and back.

Thank you for the comment and the feedback

  3. I have heard of Swagbucks but never really checked into it. This article was very helpful to explain what it is all about and it sounds like as a backup activity it is worth getting involved with. Since I am in Dubai, I always thought these type prgrams are not ones I could tap into.

Now that I do know about it, I will try and sign up. I am a US citizen, so that is not an issue, plus I have a US Bank account that any payments could be sent to for Swagbuck payouts. I do know that feeling of being thankful for having a little extra money for necessities and such.

Is it a problem with me living overseas with the Swagbucks program? I have been told for other programs (not ones like this) that I had to be living in the US. Since they would see that I am logging in from the UAE, if it is not permitted I may be out of luck on this. Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this.

    • I would have no idea about the US/Dubai connection. My recommendation if you want to join, would be to sign up for free then contact the help desk. Sorry, I can’t be of further help on that.

It may help to know payments are in the form of Paypal, Reward Cards, and Visa Reward Card. So, those may be your determining factors. They do not deposit money straight to a bank account.

Hope that helps and thanks for your questions

  4. Thank you for sharing your Swagbucks post. I forgot all about this program. I signed up about two years back and was actively working the program. I stopped loging in after a year. I got a question; Once a person signs up, and not log into their account for a while, do they lose their account? I see that they still offer the restaurant rewards. I think the Swagbucks toolbar extension is new to me and looks like a faster way to get points.

    • Hi LeNard,

If you still have your account login and password, you should still be able to get on. I had a long pause in my account as well due to some life circumstances but was able to log on after a few years.

They have added several things over the last year, you should check it out.

      Thanks for writing

  5. Hello Sara,

Wow, seems like Swagbucks is really a great place for making money. I did not know about Swagbucks before reading your review. After reading your post, I got to know about the perfect place for investing mt extra time to get extra money and lead a life being bit more financially capable enough. Then, why not?

thank you so much for this really interesting and helpful post. Gonna invite my friends and family members.

    • It is a great place to get money back on things you already going to buy or making extra to get by on or to save up and pay a bill off or something. It helps when you are in a real pinch. I’m sure your family and friends will thank you.

Thanks for your comment and be blessed

  6. I had no idea that a program like swagbucks existed! I like the idea of earning income by taking action on something. This is almost like having a job where you are exchanging hours for dollars. Hence your suggestion about using this approach to earn some extra money is a good one.

Can you share about how many hours per day did you devote to doing the swagbucks income earning activities?

    • Hi Edwin,

I spent about 10 hours average a day on it, but that’s because i was using the harder ways to make the money. If I was ordering more stuff I needed, and the money to shop like most people do at the time, I wouldn’t have had to invest as much time. My situation was unique because I was working with very little income coming in and I needed the money as fast as I could.

But, there is always money to be made on there. No day do you log in and there’s nothing, You could work on it 24 hours a day and there will still be things to do to make extra cash on there.

      Thank you for your comment,

      Have a bliss day.

      Sara
